What is a connect Group?

Scripture is clear that community isn't optional on the journey of becoming a True Disciple of Jesus. Connect Groups are how we live that out here at CPC, the primary way our church builds real community and deploys the gifts God has given each of us to build up the body of Christ. Groups are for everyone, in any stage of life, and every person brings something the group needs.

Not every group will have the same rhythm, but they're all focused on the same thing — taking everyone we meet one-step closer to becoming a True Disciple of Jesus Christ.

Connect Group Rhythms

  • DISCUSSION — digging into God's Word together, tied to the weekend sermon.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY — walking with each other through real life to become True Disciples.
  • FAMILY TIME — building relationships that go beyond a weekly meeting.
  • SERVING — living out faith together, not just talking about it.

What is an intensive Connect Group?

We believe the local church should be the primary place where God's people are formed and equipped. Intensive Connect Groups exist to help you go deep on topics that matter for your walk with Jesus taught by leaders with training and experience.
Whereas standard Connect Groups center on community and living on mission, Intensives step outside of those regular rhythms for a season of focused equipping before you return to a standard Connect Group.
Right now, we're offering four Intensive Connect Groups, featured below. Each of the four Intensives will include homework (mostly reading) and reflection in preparation for meaningful group discussion. All groups will be limited in size and available on a first come first serve basis.

If you're interested in more information about joining an Intensive Connect Group, please fill out the interest form. Leaders will reach out to you to share specifics about the group as well as answer any questions before we're asking you to fully commit.

Theology Intensive (Tuesday's @ 6:30)

A True Disciple knows God. Knowing God  is what fuels our enjoyment of him, our worship, and our identity. This Intensive is built on that conviction: "affection over information."
This connect group is intended to help every follower of Jesus, regardless of their current level of biblical depth, to grow in affection for God through the study of systematic theology. Taking the approach of what the Bible says as a whole on a given topic, this will help Christians better know God and further their enjoyment of the Word of God.

Biblical worldview intensive (Wednesday's @ 6:30)

It doesn't matter what we believe if we don't know how to engage the world with it. This Intensive is built to help you apply the gospel to the issues shaping conversations in your workplace, your neighborhood, and your own family.
Over the course of the year, you'll read and discuss material on topics like sexual identity, the sanctity of life, race, mental health, and more. This isn't a lecture. It's a group built to engage these conversations with both conviction and empathy so that we can meet people where they're at to help them take one step closer to becoming a True Disciple of Jesus.

Family discipleship intensive (Tuesday's @ 6:30)

Parenting is about more than raising good kids — it's about raising lifelong disciples of Jesus. This Intensive equips parents to become the primary disciple-makers in their own homes through biblical teaching, trusted resources, honest discussion, and hands-on application.
There are no perfect parents here, we're all in process together.
Through this group you'll be challenged to practice being a True Disciple in the context of parenting. Then, discover what it looks like to intentionally invest in your children as you navigate many of the questions and struggles parents face in the world today.
(Childcare will be available if needed)

Newlywed intensive (Wednesday's @ 6:30)

A new marriage is possibly the most significant transition any person will face in life. It's important to lay a solid foundation in the first years of marriage that you can spend the rest of your life building upon.
Marriage can be tough — but how can we discover in the challenges of marriage, the opportunities to learn more about God, growing our understanding of him, and learn to love him more? In fact, what if God designed marriage to make us holy more than to make us happy?
Over the course of the year, we'll dive deep into God's design and how we're all called to be True Disciples in the context of marriage. We'll also take a deep dive into many of the topics necessary for a successful marriage like communication & conflict, finances, intimacy, etc. In this group, we share real struggles as we seek to learn and apply God's plan for marriage together.

There are more stories of life-change from our Intensive Groups than we could ever share here — of God revealing Himself in someone's life, or the gospel meeting them right where they are. We wanted you to hear from one couple: Tim & Kelly Hamilton, on their experience in the Theology Intensive Connect Group.
