1 Kings 2:13-46
Today's Passage: 1 Kings 2:13-46
David has gone to be with the Lord, and has established his son Solomon to become king.
The verses we are looking at today mostly focus on Solomon avenging the blood guilt on those who were disobedient to God during David’s reign.
The main reason is because these people were those who had previously attempted to take the throne unlawfully. Adonijah’s attempt to take Abishag as his wife is another example of this.
As bloody of an initial reign as this is, Solomon is doing so to protect his kingdom.
Solomon’s time on the throne is one of mixed reviews. There is a lot about his rule that is to be commended, but there is also a lot about it that is negative.
If nothing else, we can be reminded that we must place our ultimate hope in God, and not in man. Man will fail us, but God never will.
