Revelation 19:6-10

Today's Passage: Revelation 19:6-10

The great multitude praises God with such enthusiasm that it sounds like water and thunder. All together the voices cry out in celebration because God, the Almighty reigns.

This celebration is special because this is the celebration of the marriage of the Lamb and his Bride.

Who is this Lamb? The Lamb is the Messiah, Jesus.

Throughout scripture God describes His relationship with His people as a marriage. In the Old Testament we see this in passages like Hosea 2:19-20, Isaiah 54:5, and Ezekiel 16. In the New Testament we see this description in passages like 2 Corinthians 11:2 and Ephesians 5:25-32.

In Revelation 19 we do not see a bride that is unfaithful or preparing, no the bride is ready. However, the preparation of this bride was not due to her own merit. No, this bride was granted to clothe herself in fine, bright, pure linen.

In Ephesians 5:25-27 we see God command husbands to love their wives as Christ loves the church. Christ loves the church in this way: that he gave himself up for her. Because of Christ’s sacrifice on our behalf we may be sanctified and cleansed by His word so that “so that he might present the church… that she might be holy and without blemish.”

Christ is both the Lamb that the church is presented to and also the one who clothes the church in righteousness so that she can be presented as pure and holy.

How are you pursuing your relationship with God this week? How do you feel God sanctifying you? What is one thing that you need to surrender to Jesus this week?
