Psalm 68
Today's Passage: Psalm 68
There are two things we can learn about God in this passage:
1. God is righteous in punishing.
God does not punish because He wants to punish. God did not create humans to punish them – He actually created humans to bear His image and to dwell with them (Genesis 1-2). 1 Timothy 2:3-6 even shows God’s heart for humans and His plan to save humans: 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.
But Psalm 68 teaches that God is going to punish the wicked. He gave them the opportunity to be saved, and in their rebellion, they chose the opposite. God must punish the wicked, because wickedness cannot be in the presence of Holiness.
2. God is righteous in providing.
David very clearly points out how God is a God of providing. Here are some ways God has provided according to David:
I’m sure there are some I even missed. But it’s amazing to see the plan, promises, and power of God through His providing.
Two reflection questions:
•In what ways has God provided for you?
•Who in your life, if they died today, would be punished for their sin? How can you tell them about the way God has provided salvation?

• Father to the fatherless (v. 5)
• Protector of widows (v. 5)
• Leads prisoners to prosperity (v. 6)
• Went before His people (v. 7)
• Good dwelling place for His people (v. 8)
• Gives salvation (v. 20)
