Esther 9:1-19

Today's Passage: Esther 9:1-19
As Hannibal Smith from the A-team used to always say, “I love it when a plan comes together.” This is exactly what we see in our passage today.
If you remember back in Esther 2, Mordecai hears about two men who plan to kill the king. He told Esther and she was able to save the king from the assassination attempt. Esther and Mordecai were able to save the king in chapter 2, and now they were able to save the Jews in chapter 9. Haman’s plan to destroy the Jews was thwarted because the Jews were ready to fight. And notice, the man who wanted to kill the Jews (Haman), his sons were killed by the Jews (v. 10).
Esther seems to be a series of “just so happens”, but as Drew said one time, “God just so happened.” God was providentially at work to save His people. This was not out of God’s control.
How are you struggling to trust God with your story? At one moment in Esther everything seemed hopeless. Yet, God used two people to deliver them. And this should remind us of our Savior, Jesus. The Jews didn’t know what their outcome would be, but we do. God has already told us His plan and has promised to fully deliver His people one day.
If I could rephrase Hannibal Smith’s words, they would say, “I love it when we get to witness God’s plan come together.”
