Judges 2:10-23

Today’s Passage: Judges 2:10-23
Again, the book of Judges is a dark book. It is full of self righteousness that leads to destruction (Judges 17:6). Our passage today starts out in a heartbreaking way...
10 And all that generation also were gathered to their fathers. And there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord or the work that he had done for Israel. // Judges 2:10
The parents & people who followed God with Joshua did not raise their kids or the next generation to do so. It shows us just how quickly godliness can be lost. It can happen seemingly overnight.
That leads us to the meat of today’s text and an idea that will help the rest of the book of Judges make sense... THE CYCLE OF THE JUDGES. You read about it in verses 16-23. This happened over and over again in the book of Judges. (See image below.)
The question we have to ask is, what kind of cycles are there in my life?
We all have them. We have the sin cycles that plague us. We have to be able to identify them and then give them over to God. By any means necessary we have to find a way through God’s Word and the gospel to break the cycle and follow Jesus with our whole being.
Don’t forget - we are here to help you. We want to help you be discipled and to love Jesus with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. We are on your team CPC. Let us know how we can serve you. This is what the church is all about... following Jesus together.

● They worshiped other gods (v.11)
● They abandoned God (v.12)
● They felt God’s judgment (12b-15)
