2 Corinthians 6:1-13

Today’s Passage: 2 Corinthians 6:1-13

Paul is continuing exhorting our role in the ministry of the gospel in the beginning of 2 Corinthians 6. All of this flows from the end of 2 Corinthians 5 which closes with...

20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

We play a vital role in bringing people to Christ. It is Jesus who accomplishes the work of salvation. We join Him in the invitation to salvation to others. We see this in 2 Corinthians 6.

1) WE WORK TOGETHER WITH JESUS (1)

No matter who signs our paycheck we are all full time for God. We work together with Him. We appeal to others on behalf of Christ. Just like 2 Corinthians 5:11 says...

Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others...

We persuade others to trust in Jesus. We live convincing lives. We point people to Him. We are ambassadors for Jesus.

2) WE WORK TO REMOVE OBSTACLES (3)

This does not mean that we compromise on God’s Word. This means that we tear down walls in people’s hearts and don’t add unnecessary barriers to the gospel. We simply proclaim the truth of Christ faithfully. A great question to ask... What barriers exist in people’s hearts toward the truth of Jesus? Can I remove them while still being faithful to God’s Word and message? That second question is vital for us to answer.

3) WE WORK TO SHOW JESUS THROUGH SUFFERING (4-10)

We are servants of Jesus. Often the way that people see Jesus most clearly is through the suffering of His followers. In this we show the goodness of God. We want people to see the inheritance that they can have in Jesus and the goodness of God.

APPLICATION:
1. Make a list of those in your life to share Jesus with.
2. Start praying every day for them by name.
3. Look for on ramps to talk about God and the gospel with them.
4. Spend intentional time with them.
 5. Take a leap of faith and tell them about Jesus.
