Matthew 26:36-68

Today's Passage: Matthew 26:36-68

There is so much that could be pointed out from our passage today:
  • The many prophecies Jesus fulfilled
  • Jesus being humble and obedient to the plan of redemption
  • Jesus’ claim to deity
  • Judas betraying Jesus
  • And so much more!

But here is what I want us to think about today: What prevents you from doing what God has called/commanded you to do?

I want you to really ponder the question. It can vary for each of us. It could be fear, pride, laziness, other priorities, lack of discernment, etc.

In our passage, Jesus took Peter, James, and John with Him to pray. Jesus goes to pray by Himself and each time He comes back, the disciples are asleep. Peter, James, and John missed out on this experience with Jesus because they were tired. This was one of Jesus’ last days on earth – what an opportunity they missed out on! And I can just imagine how much they regretted this, because Jesus is then arrested and later would be crucified. This was their last time to intentionally be with Him.

God has a plan and purpose for your life. He is calling you – to share the Gospel with people in your life, to serve at church, to spend time with Him. And yet, we miss out on these things because we don’t listen or are unaware of what God is calling us to do.

My prayer is that I would not get to the end of my life and wish I had done more to serve God and bring glory to His name. I’d rather go out knowing I gave Him my all. That starts by loving Him and walking in obedience to His call on my life.
