Matthew 22:1-22

Today's Passage: Matthew 22:1-22
This parable is a story about rejection, ingratitude, rebellion, complacency, and anger.
Rejection – People had been invited to the wedding feast, but they would not go (v. 3)
Ingratitude – The King prepared the best meal, but they decided to go home (v. 4-5)
Rebellion – Those who were invited decided to shame and kill servants (v. 6)
Complacency – The one who decided to come didn’t even dress for the occasion (v. 12)
Anger – The King in his righteous anger destroyed those invited that did not come and the one who did not take it serious (v. 7, 13).
How does this play out in our world?
Rejection – People continually do not believe in God. They have heard about Him but want nothing to do with Him.
Ingratitude – God has offered the perfect gift – Jesus. People would rather seek after the things of this world.
Rebellion – People have chosen their own way. It goes against God and His Word.
Complacency – Some people have knowledge on God, but they aren’t willing to surrender their lives to Him.
Anger – God has promised eternal life to those who trust in the work of Jesus. But for those who reject, rebel, and are complacent, His righteous anger means they will spend eternity separated from Him.
Our role in this: Seek after those who reject, are ungrateful, who rebel, and are complacent. While they may not understand/care about what is coming for their continual disobedience to God, we do. We want them at the wedding feast of God!
Who in your life needs to hear about the good news of Jesus?
