Matthew 12:15-37

Today's Passage: Matthew 12:15-37

There are three things I want us to see from today:

1. Jesus is the Messiah (v. 15-21)

All the other points are contingent on the first one. If Jesus is not who Isaiah prophesied about, then we are following the wrong person. The promising part of it is that Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah perfectly.

2. Those who believe Jesus is the Messiah are with Him (v. 22-32)

The Pharisees accuse Jesus to be a demon since He could cast out demons. Jesus makes His point: why would a demon want to go against another demon? A kingdom divided could never stand. So, He says: Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters (v. 30). The people who believed Jesus to be a demon were against Him. Those who see He is the Messiah, and trust in Him, are with Him.

3. Those who believe Jesus is the Messiah are with Him and will produce fruit pleasing to Him (v. 33-37)

Those who are against Jesus produce bad fruit. They may think they are doing good, but they cannot. Those with Jesus produce godly fruit. Producing fruit is not the way to obtain salvation; it is a byproduct of salvation.

For you:
  • Do you believe Jesus is the Messiah, the one Isaiah prophesied about?
  • If so, are you with Him? Have you surrendered your life to Him and confessed Him as Lord and Savior?
  • If so, are you producing fruit? Are you making an impact for the Kingdom of God and on others around you?
