Matthew 4:12-25

Today’s Passage: Matthew 4:12-25

After the baptism of Jesus & testing of Jesus in the wilderness Jesus began His ministry. A wonderful 3 year journey that proved who He was and ultimately led Him to the cross. Through these verses we see 3 clear markers of Jesus’ ministry while here on earth...

1) JESUS PROCLAIMED TRUTH (12-17)

Jesus did not shy away from the truth. He did not water it down. He was concerned with quality over quantity. He called people to repent and look past earth and to the heavenly kingdom. He called them to live the life that they were designed for and that honored God. Jesus proclaimed the truth.

2) JESUS EMPOWERED OTHERS (18-22)

Jesus did not do this by Himself. He could have. But He didn’t. He called others to join Him and to do ministry with Him. We do well to learn from His example and lock arms in unity with other believers around us as we seek to reach our world.

3) JESUS CARED FOR ALL (23-25)

Many in the crowd that came to Him never ended up following Him. Yet, He cared for them. He taught them. He healed them. He loved them. He trusted the results to His father in Heaven.
These things should mark our ministry as well. Each of us are called to ministry. We have a role to play... May we:

  • Proclaim Truth
  • Work with others
  • Care for all

We want to see everyone in our world take one step closer to becoming a true disciple of Jesus Christ. If we want to see Lexington changed for the gospel - it starts here.
