Isaiah 64

Today's Passage: Isaiah 64

to make your name known to your adversaries,
and that the nations might tremble at your presence!
Isaiah 64:2 (ESV)

God’s glory among the nations of the earth matters every month, but in a uniquely focused way during October for our church. As we approach our missions giving Sunday, spend some time today praying for the nations that do not know the glorious God of Scripture.

This God:

Makes mountains quake at his presence (verse 1)
Does awesome things (verse 3)
Acts for those who wait for him (verse 4)
Meets with those who joyfully work righteousness (verse 5)

God is all of these things, even when:

6 We have all become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment.
We all fade like a leaf,
and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
7 There is no one who calls upon your name,
    who rouses himself to take hold of you;
for you have hidden your face from us,
and have made us melt in the hand of our iniquities.

This is true for every human that has ever lived or ever will live. This should humble us before an almighty God and also labor in prayer for those who don’t know that this glorious God has died so that sinners can be reconciled with him.
