Isaiah 63

Today’s Passage: Isaiah 63

Right off the bat you can see that the tone of this passage is worship - for who God is, for what God has done & for what God will do. The verse that sticks out to me the most is verse 7...

I will tell of the Lord’s unfailing love. I will praise the Lord for all he has done. I will rejoice in his great goodness to Israel, which he has granted according to his mercy and love. (NLT)

Here we see FOUR RESPONSES to who God is, what God has done & what God will do:

1) TELL OF THE LORD’S UNFAILING LOVE.

How has God shown you His unfailing/steadfast love? I think what is so amazing about this is that this means it never fails. His love never ends. He never abandons us. This is the good news of the gospel. Who have you told recently about God’s unfailing love?

2) PRAISE THE LORD FOR ALL HE HAS DONE.

What has God done for you? It is very easy to get fixed on all the “bad” in our lives and not praise God for the good. We are called to have joy in Jesus regardless (yes, this is possible) but we need to make regular times of praising God for what He has done. When was the last time you stopped and praised God?

3) REJOICE IN HIS GREAT GOODNESS.

How has God been good to you? God is good. It is who He is. He cannot be “not good” because He is good. Every command, everything He allows, all of who He is is good. As finite humans we cannot always see how that is true. But we know it is because He tells us so. We have experienced it. God is good. How do you rejoice in God’s goodness? Does God’s goodness inform your emotions?

4) REJOICE IN HIS MERCY AND LOVE.

How have you seen God’s mercy and love? Mercy is when God does not give us what we deserve. I am so thankful that God has been merciful to us in Jesus Christ. He loved us so much that He laid down His life. WOW! Have you meditated on God’s mercy & love recently?

These responses should mark our lives! Let’s live on mission today to take everyone we meet one step closer to becoming a true disciple of Jesus Christ! Praying for you!
