Isaiah 53
Today's Passage: Isaiah 53
Isaiah 53 is the clearest Old Testament prophecy of the person and work of Jesus Christ. It outlines his suffering, mistreatment, and eventual death while also highlighting what it accomplishes for God’s people. Chapter 53 is a solemn passage with beautiful implications. Rather than have me explain the passage, I want you to meditate on specific sections and think deeply about this prophecy's beauty and the cross's beauty.
Read verses 4-6
Meditate on the weight that Christ carried - and take a minute to confess your sin to him today.
Meditate on just verse 3
Really take your time and think about each word.
Are there areas where you have turned your back on Jesus and chosen to follow the world rather than him?
Read verses 11-12
Meditate on what it means for you to be counted as righteous.
Pray
Spend several minutes thanking the Lord for what He has done through Christ. Isaiah 53, and all of its agony, was lived out by Jesus for you and me. Thank him for that.
