Isaiah 49

Today’s Passage: Isaiah 49

One of the attributes of God that means the most to me is His faithfulness. Faithfulness is defined as loyal, steadfast, and true to the original. God is immutable. That means that God never changes. He is who He is. And He is righteous. And He is faithful to who He is.

I see this all over this story. The Israelite people were far from faithful. They constantly turned their back on God and went their own way. But even if in their faithlessness God was always and is always faithful.

This is who He says that He is. 2 Timothy 2:13…

“...if we are faithless, he remains faithful- for he cannot deny himself.”

We see this in this passage. Isaiah is talking about the ultimate restoration of Israel. This started with Jesus and will come to ultimate completion at the second coming of Christ. God is faithful to His covenant because He is faithful to Himself. He even defines who He is at the end of Isaiah 49. Verse 26b…

“...I am the Lord your Savior, and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”

This is who He is. Ultimately His faithfulness to us is seen in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus - something prophesied a lot in the book of Isaiah. I am thankful for God’s faithfulness - the Israelite people but also to us, to me.

We have turned our back on God but God never turns His back on us. He is faithful. He is about restoration. He is our Savior. He is our Lord. He is Almighty God. He is Redeemer. He is the Mighty One. It is an honor to know, serve, and follow Him.

Let’s live for Jesus today. Be an example at school and in your workplace. Spend time with Him. Tell someone about Him today. Let’s take everyone around us one step closer to becoming a true disciple of Jesus Christ.
