Isaiah 42

Today’s Passage: Isaiah 42

Isaiah 42 is about Jesus. He is the servant in verse 1 whom the prophet is talking about. He paints a picture of who Jesus is and what He will do. I believe a theme of this chapter to be… WORSHIP GOD FIRST AND FOREMOST.

I believe that much of Isaiah reveals an issue in the human experience.. WE HAVE A WORSHIP PROBLEM. In verse 8 Isaiah tells us to glorify God and not worship anything else with our heart.

An idol is not just what we think of when we think of idols in the Bible. It is not just a carved God. An idol is anything that is put in God’s place. This even be good things.

Anything that we make a god thing becomes a bad thing.

Why do we worship God?

1) We worship God for who He is (v.1-9)
2) We worship God for His trustworthiness (v.17)
3) We worship God because of His grace (v.22)

If you looked back on the last week, what have you worshiped the most? Have you worshiped God? School? Work? Money? Family? Your spouse? Kids? What has sat on the throne of your heart?

Take a step this week to put God in His rightful place. How?

1) Confess and Repent.
2) Spend deep time in God’s Word.
3) Pray daily and ask God to be on the throne of your heart and life.
