Isaiah 35

Today’s Passage: Isaiah 35
This is a beautiful passage of what we have to look forward to as believers in Jesus. We know that right now we live as exiles but one day Jesus will bring us home. The earth will be transformed. He will rule and reign forever. This is the bad part that gets us to the good part.
Isaiah 34 reminded us that one day Jesus will return and He will judge the world. And then Isaiah 35 tells us what comes after. So what do we have to look forward to?
1) Renewing (1-2)
The earth will be made new. It will be as if sin never existed. We will get to behold the full beauty of God’s creation.
2) God’s Glory (2b)
We will see God’s glory in ways we have never seen Him before.
3) Ultimate Healing (5-7)
We will experience ultimate and final healing in Jesus. Our bodies will be made new. Our spirit will be fully with Jesus. It will be a glorious day.
4) Holiness (8-9)
We will experience the fullness of the holiness of God that Jesus purchased for us on the cross.
5) Everlasting Joy (10)
There will be joy forevermore in Jesus. We will experience the gladness of our heart and be with God in a way we never have.
Heaven & the new earth is a wonderful thing to think about. I don’t think we think about heaven enough. I think that is why we seek to find satisfaction in things on earth. What are you looking most forward to in heaven?
““The critical question for our generation—and for every generation— is this: If you could have heaven, with no sickness, and with all the friends you ever had on earth, and all the food you ever liked, and all the leisure activities you ever enjoyed, and all the natural beauties you ever saw, all the physical pleasures you ever tasted, and no human conflict or any natural disasters, could you be satisfied with heaven, if Christ were not there? ” (John Piper)
