Today's Passage: Isaiah 32
In Isaiah 32, we find a comforting message of hope and righteousness amidst turbulent times. Chapter 32 describes a world of chaos and disorder longing for the true and righteous King. A world not too different from ours today. We live in a society that is starving for truth and searching for satisfaction. Political leaders and celebrities have led them further and further into panic and chaos, leaving them desperate for a King to provide shelter from the storm of life, and this King finds its fulfillment in Christ Jesus.
Isaiah prophecies about a King who is righteous and just. A King who ushers in peace and rest. The fruit of his kingdom will be an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. That is exactly what Christ has done. Jesus has brought the Kingdom of God down to Earth. Jesus came in the righteousness of God and justified us through his death and resurrection. He has given eternal peace to ALL who confess Him as Lord of their life, and poured out His Spirit to dwell within them forever! What chapter 32 longs for - we have in full through Christ! Furthermore, what our world desperately longs for - we have in surplus.
The Israelites were stuck in a cycle of sin. They knew about God but continued to go their own way, which led to destruction and death. Isaiah’s prophecy was a call for them to turn to God and trust in the coming King. The city of Lexington is filled with people who are stuck in the cycle of sin and are running toward destruction. But there is a righteous King willing and able to save them at no cost! You and I have the calling and responsibility to share the Good News of Jesus with them. We have the message of hope and truth that the world longs for. So own it, share it, and live it out!
