Isaiah 19

Today's Passage: Isaiah 19

No matter the sport or activity, there is always a debate about who is the GOAT (greatest of all
time). Cases can be made, statistics can be shared, and heated discussions can ensue, but for
the most part it’s all opinion at the end of the day. This is not the case with God.

Isaiah 19 is a declaration of his untouchable greatness and power. No matter how significant
the foe or defying the enemy, no one is a match for our God.

Look at this chapter. Here’s what God says to us about Himself:

  •  He is terrifying in His presence (v. 1,16-18)
  •  He has power to turn human hearts (v. 2-4)
  •  He has dominion over His creation (v. 5-10)
  •  He has wisdom above all (v. 11-15)
  •  He alone is worthy of our worship (v. 21-24)

Egypt is no match. Idols bow down in fear. Nations shake and rulers tremble before God, and
THIS is the accurate picture we are to have of Him. God is not so small and incompetent that He
has to bend at the will of His creation. God is not so passive that He produces no fear among
the inhabitants of the earth. He is AWESOME.

Is your view of God too small? Do you see Him as Isaiah reveals Him? Have circumstances,
cultural ideologies, world disasters, or personal sufferings altered your view of God and made
Him more impotent than He is?

Return to the fact that God is the GOAT. He is the only true and living God. Remember that He
possesses all power, wisdom, dominion, and holiness. Recount the display of His authority in
your life. Rest in the truth that He has never nor will He ever surrender His reign.

A.W. Tozer has said: “What comes to our minds when we think about God is the most important
thing about us
.” Continue to let the scriptures (God’s revelation about Himself) build the
bulwark that is an impenetrable defense against the enemy’s attempt to lessen His bigness.

God is great and there is none like Him.
