John 9:35-41

Today’s Passage: John 9:35-41
Think back to when you first experienced Jesus. You understood who He was. You invited Him into your life to be your savior. Think about the weight lifted off your shoulders. Think about the shame He removed. Think about the hope that you felt.
This is what this man is experiencing.
Jesus is treating Him fundamentally different from how the Pharisees treated Him.
1) Jesus treated him with dignity (v.35)
While they cast him out, Jesus invited him in. Jesus operated as if he was made in the image of God. Every person we come into contact with is (1) made in God’s image (2) loved by God (3) God desires them. This is true even for those we disagree with the most. Are our words, actions, prayers fueled by this truth?
2) Jesus invited him in a relationship with Him (v.35b-38)
Jesus helped him place his faith in Himself. He told him who He was. He told him what He can do for him - spiritual healing not just physical healing. And the man worshiped Jesus. Jesus is doing the same today.
People all around us are yearning for something… what they don’t know is what they are yearning for is Jesus. It is our responsibility & joy to tell them. If we don’t, who will? We have the best news of all time. Jesus left heaven. He came to earth. He lived and died for our sins. He rose on the third day. He ascended into heaven.
Jesus PAID & PAVED our way. What a joy to tell others. Are you prepared? Are you praying? Are you sharing?
3) Jesus opened his eyes (v.39-41)
Jesus is the one that opens eyes… not us. This is why we have to be praying for people. We have to beg God on their behalf. God listens to our cries. While Satan is actively trying to blind the eyes of people. Jesus is opening the eyes of people.
“The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.” - 2 Corinthians 4:4-6
Let’s pray for those in our workplaces, classes, and our circles of influence. Satan is actively blinding them. It’s not that they don’t just believe, they don’t see. Let’s pray that they see.
