God’s Word has the power to do this. And John is a unique book. It is a gospel - a narrative of Jesus’ life - but it contains stories that are unique to John. They align with but are not found in Matthew, Mark, and Luke.
John’s primary goal is to show who Jesus is… what Jesus accomplished… and why we need Jesus for eternal life. To do this He starts off strong and explains to us who Jesus is, His attributes, in verses 1-18. What do we learn?
1) Jesus has always existed (v.1)
2) Jesus has all power (v.3)
3) Jesus is life & light (v.4)
4) Jesus overcomes darkness (v.5)
5) Jesus came to us (v.11)
6) Jesus is salvation (v.12-13)
7) Jesus did what it took to redeem us (v.14)
8) Jesus is personal (v.14)
9) Jesus is glorious (v.14)
10) Jesus is full of grace & truth (v.14)
11) Jesus is supreme (v.15)
12) Jesus reveals God the Father (v.18)
It is no wonder why later Jesus says in John 14:6 that He is THE way, THE truth, and THE life. Where else can salvation be found? Where else can forgiveness be received?
We have to wake up every day and live with Jesus in charge… to live in His power… to and walk with Him faithfully. How can you do that this summer? You don’t have to have the summer slide. You can thrive this summer in your relationship with God.
Look at Him.

There is no better way to start a new half-century together than to begin with reading, studying and applying the truths of our Savior with the gospel of John.
