Today's Passage: 2 Samuel 23
As David’s life was winding down, he continues to preach and sing of the faithfulness of his God. Though far from a perfect or flawless life, David no doubt goes out with the same heart that God adored as he proclaims the greatness of the God who loves him.
Here are some of the things David spoke about regarding the person of God:
God is a Rock (v. 3)
God favors the just (v. 4)
God makes and keeps his promises/covenants (v. 5)
God orders all things and upholds all plans by His sovereignty (v. 5)
God is for us (v. 5)
These 5 simple reminders are good for us today as David saw each of them on display throughout his lifetime. Which of these impacts you? Which one of these speaks life into your soul? What is it about God that, like David, makes your heart sing with joy and adoration?
Is there one of these that you need to learn to apply or reapply to your thought life regarding the character of God? Do you really know and deep down believe that God is a firm foundation, a God of provision and blessing, a trustworthy promise-maker, sovereign in plans and purposes, and is completely for those who are in Christ Jesus?
Be refreshed by the king’s words. This is our God. Sing it to others, preach it to yourself, and most importantly, believe it to be true!
