2 Samuel 19

Today's Passage: 2 Samuel 19
David has been going through a lot.
He was betrayed by his son Absalom, then Absalom died, and now David is grieving his son's death.
Verse 2 says, “So the victory that day was turned into mourning for all the people, for the people heard that day, “The king is grieving for his son.”
The ESV Study Bible says, “David lets his own grief overcome not just his kingly responsibilities but even his gratitude to God for saving the nation.”
Everyone grieves differently, and there is no one right or wrong way to grieve; no “proper” amount of time. But, the encouragement here is whenever you experience grief or suffering of any kind, be moving towards God, not away from him.
God is present and able to bear your questions and frustrations, and is sufficient for all of it.
