1 Samuel 31

Today's Passage: 1 Samuel 31
1 Samuel 31 illustrates a principle for us that we know to be true... GOD'S SOVEREIGN PLAN ALWAYS WINS OUT.
David had been anointed King in 1 Samuel 6. Yet Saul was unwiling to give up his position to David. Instead he tried to kill David and sent him running for his life. David had the chance to take Saul's life in 1 Samuel 24, but left it in God's hands. What 1 Samuel 31 shows us is that ultimately God's sovereign plan aways wins out.
There are a few keys to this:
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand. // Proverbs 19:21
I find great challenge and great hope in this...
CHALLENGE: Choose to do things God's way and seek God's plan.
HOPE: Even when I mess up, His plan is perfect and perfectly trustworthy.
Remember... things just go better when you do them God's way. His ways and purposes always prevail.
We can learn from Saul:

There are a few keys to this:
1) IT'S GOD'S PLAN.
2) GOD IS SOVEREIGN.
3) HIS PLANS ARE BETTER.
4) HIS PURPOSE ALWAYS WINS OUT

We can learn from Saul:
- Choose God's way over ours.
- Submit over resist.
- Follow God over all.
