1 Samuel 24

Today’s Passage: 1 Samuel 24

One of the hardest things we wrestle with in life is TRUSTING GOD when we feel unjustly wronged or in the unknown. No doubt this is how David felt.

God declared him to be king in 1 Samuel 16-17
Saul tries to kill David in 1 Samuel 19
Now David is on the run - as the anointed king - from the current king

Talk about a hard circumstance to trust God’s will and God’s plan. We have these kinds of circumstances happen to us...

Sinned against by someone else.
Things seem to be spiraling out of control.
The unknown of the future in our lives

We must act as David acted... We must choose to trust God. We must choose to do things God’s way.

THINGS JUST GO BETTER WHEN WE DO THEM GOD’S WAY.

David was in a cave. Saul walked in without knowing David was there. David had the opportunity to kill Saul and “take what was rightfully his”. But He didn’t. Look at what David said in verses 6-7...

6 He said to his men, “The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lord's anointed, to put out my hand against him, seeing he is the Lord's anointed.” 7 So David persuaded his men with these words gand did not permit them to attack Saul. And Saul rose up and left the cave and went on his way.

He chose to do things the right way. He chose to do things God’s way. He didn’t take it into his own hands. How often do we take things into our own hands?

OFTEN TRUST LOOKS LIKE REST. Trust can look like waiting on God. This is what David did. Eventually he was King but He waited on God. He trusted Him. He rested in Him. He did things His way. And as we know...

THINGS JUST GO BETTER WHEN WE DO THEM GOD’S WAY.
