Exodus 40

Today's Passage: Exodus 40
As we end Exodus, we must reflect on everything that has happened: Introduction of Moses,
God calling Moses, 10 plagues, Passover, Crossing the Red Sea, 10 Commandments, instructions
for the Tabernacle, and so much more.
What was your favorite part of Exodus?
The one point I want to make from Exodus 40 is this: God blesses obedience. He always has
and He always will. In our chapter, God commands Moses on when and how to set up the
Tabernacle and to anoint it (v. 9-15). Moses then carries out these tasks (v. 16-33). And because
Moses is obedient, God’s glory fills the Tabernacle. Have you ever thought: What would have
happened if Moses did not construct and anoint the Tabernacle in the right way? What if he
would have tried to do it his way and not God’s way?
But what about your life: Are you being obedient to God in every aspect of life? Have you given
Him control of everything?
God’s way is always best – in how we disciple, lead our families, treat other people, do our
work, etc. When it seems easier to follow the world’s way instead of God’s, remember that God
blesses obedience to Him. His way will always be best, even if it seems more difficult or
outcasts you from others around you.
What do you need to surrender to God? How can you be more obedient to what He is calling
you to?

"For the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, and fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout all their journeys."

I love how God made His permanent presence always visible to the Israelites. He's promised us His permanent presence also! So why do our hearts sometimes doubt His nearness and/or if He cares? Perhaps the need in those moments is to "be still" and lean into the God Who's promised to be "with us always" (Matthew 28:20).
