Exodus 24

Today’s Passage: Exodus 24

God had just promised Moses and the people the land of Canaan and now they are commanded to go up and worship. Isn’t that interesting? They are not commanded to go and take action, to game plan, to strategize, but they are commanded to worship. Not that any of those things were bad, but worship was to be their first response.

This leads us to an interesting question... Is worship our first response? Because it should be. How did Moses respond?

1) HE ROSE EARLY...

He didn’t wait to obey. He didn’t wait to worship. He went and He did it!

2) HE BUILT AN ALTAR...

This was two purposes... to bring God glory but also so that he wouldn’t forget what God had said and done. What altars exist in your life that you look back to?

3) HE LED OTHERS TO WORSHIP & OBEY...

People are watching. We lead them by the way we live and the words we use.

4) HE “BEHELD” GOD...

To behold something means to see, observe, sit in wonder of something glorious. This is what Moses and the people did. Again, this was their first response... not their last.

What were they beholding?
●  His glory.
●  His goodness.
●  His worthiness.

What would our lives look like if our first response was to behold God? If worship was our response to God’s promise instead of God’s action? Because in God’s economy - His promise is as good as His action.
