Exodus 6
Today's Passage: Exodus 6
In Exodus 5, the Israelites slavery becomes much worse for them. I tried to put myself in their shoes, but I don’t think I can truly understand the amount of work it took to do what they were told to do. And it’s important to remember that this work was not optional; it was forced.
With that being said, I can understand why it may have been difficult for them to listen to what God was trying to communicate through Moses (v. 9). But one thing the Israelites needed to understand in this point of time, and maybe something you need to be reminded about is this: God is greater than our most difficult circumstance.
God had a plan for the Israelites. One that He had promised hundreds of years before this moment. And in verses 2-4, God reminds Moses of His power and purpose. God was in control of the situation. He wasn’t scrambling trying to fit all the pieces together; He never lost control. He also had a purpose. He was about to show His power to the world through the deliverance of Israel and bring salvation to them.
Ultimately, Moses and the people of Israel needed to be reminded of this one truth: “I am the Lord” (v. 2, 29).
And today, I want to remind you that God is the Lord. I don’t know what difficult situation you might be in, but rest assured that God is with you, He has the power to overcome it, and He has a purpose for your life. Difficult situations are not always consequences; sometimes God is giving them to us out of an abundance of grace (look at the story of Job).

Thanks for the encouraging message today, Brice! We need to constantly remember who God is, like He is doing with Moses in this chapter. The Wiersbe study Bible says "Mature faith doesn't rely on feelings as a motivation." He is God, the creator of all things, who has always been and knows the end from the beginning. His promises are all we need.
