Exodus 4

Today’s Passage: Exodus 4
The saga continues from yesterday. God met Moses in a burning bush and called him to lead. God gave him an assignment - to lead His people out of Egypt. He responded how we do a lot when God has called us to lead (and He has)... He made EXCUSES!
1) I am not qualified to lead (v3:11)
God’s Reply: I am calling you and I am sending you. (v.3:12)
2) What will I say? (v.3:13)
God’s Reply: Tell them I have sent you. (v.3:14)
The excuses continue in chapter 4…
3) What if they won’t listen? (v.4:1)
God’s Reply: Show them I am with you. (v.4:2-5)
4) I am afraid and I don’t want to do it (v.4:10)
God’s Reply: I’ll give you the words to say - the power to lead (v.4:11-12)
We are so often like Moses. We know where God has called us to lead, called us to go, called us to obey, and yet we respond with similar excuses.
Never forget God equips those He calls as we see here with Moses. Moses did not have all the answers. God did. Moses did not always know how to proceed. God did. Whatever God is calling you to, you can trust Him. He is the one who leads every step of the way.
Moses went. God’s people were encouraged (v.31) and as we will study over the coming days - God used Moses to lead His people to deliverance. What if he would have said no?
As great as this story is, it points us to Jesus who came to deliver us from the kingdom of darkness and transfer us into the kingdom of His glorious light. Praise be to God.
Where has God called you to lead? What excuses come to your mind? How can you walk in obedience this week?
