Ecclesiastes 11

Today's Passage: Ecclesiastes 11
Sin leads to brokenness. Brokenness leads to unpredictability.
Throughout Ecclesiastes, we are confronted over and over again with different realities of living in a world that often doesn’t make sense. You’ve probably experienced this as well.
“Why did ______________ event happen in my life?”
“Why do bad things happen to good people?”
“Why do good things happen to bad people?”
As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything. Eccl. 11:5
We do not know the work of God. The will of God is often mysterious. In the New Testament, we are promised that God works all things for the good of those who love him (Rom. 8:28). But often, the goodness of trials and suffering are not felt in the current moment, they are felt in future reflection.
It can often take walking with Jesus through these trials to develop a strong trust in a God who declares himself to be completely sovereign and completely good simultaneously. That is why it is imperative that we surround ourselves with brothers and sisters in Christ that come alongside us in the moments where it is hard to distinguish God’s goodness from his sovereignty.
Do you have these types of people in your life? Are you this type of person in other people’s lives?
Commit, with God’s help, to be that person.

I am so thankful for the CPC family, especially during these last 2 years. The fellowship with other brothers and sisters in Christ is wonderful. I like the verse in Proverbs 17:27: "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another!"
I'm thankful for all the brothers & sisters who've given wonderful examples of "rejoicing in every day" even though "there are many dark days." My husband Christopher is one, and our church is also full of people who are like that. I appreciate your exhortation for me and all of us to "be that person" for others.
