Romans 16

Today's Passage: Romans 16
Verses 25-27 hit me like a tidal wave. You could write a book on these verses.
Paul says there was “a plan kept secret from the beginning of time”. This plan was foretold by the prophets and came about through the coming of Jesus. The plan has been made known so that people might “believe and obey him”. Through this gracious act of God, He deserves “all glory”.
Verse 20 says, “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet”, which is a direct correlation to Genesis 3:15. Genesis 3:15 is right after sin came into the world and God promised that the Messiah would crush the head of the serpent. Jesus crushed the head of the serpent through the Cross and Resurrection. We see the fruit of that promise play out in verses 25-27.
From this passage, I am reminded of how undeserving I am to have a relationship with Jesus. God did not have to offer salvation to someone like me. He didn’t have to have this grand plan of redemption through His Son, but He did. And I love Paul’s adjective for God: wise. God in His infinite wisdom had this planned out. It might not make sense to us as why God would do it, but we can be thankful for His plan of redemption.
How are you encouraged by Romans 16?
