Psalm 44

Today’s Passage: Psalm 44
What are you praying for? Where do you need God to meet you?
One of the joys we have as followers of Jesus is to talk to God and lay our requests, needs, and our burdens before Him. It is our legal right to come before the throne of God in our time of need - Hebrews 4:14-16.
So, What are you praying for? Where do you need God to meet you?
Psalm 44 gives us some helpful things to keep on the forefront of our minds and hearts as we pray.
1) REMEMBER GOD’S TRACK RECORD (v.1-4)
Sometimes it feels like God is not listening or God is not answering. It is not true. Look at His track record. We have to trust and cling to the fact that God’s timing and God’s ways are best.
2) REMEMBER GOD’S POSITION (v.4-5)
God is God. God is king. That means He is in charge. He is sovereign. He is in control. There is a lot of peace that comes with that. Nothing in life comes without passing over the desk of God.
3) REMEMBER GOD’S TRUSTWORTHINESS (v.6-8)
God is worthy of our trust. He is savior. In Him we boast. In Him we trust. Be thankful. Cling to God. Trust Him.
4) REMEMBER TO CLING TO GOD’S TRUTH OVER OUR FEELINGS (v.9-26)
Here the psalmist is expressing their feelings. They feel abandoned by God. They feel like God is distant. They feel like God is sleeping. But in the very end they remind themselves (v.26) that ultimately God has steadfast love. They cling to this truth. They call on this truth. We must do the same.
Often our feelings act as funhouse mirrors. They distort things. They don;t give us a clear perspective. We have to look past our feelings and cling to truth. And the truth is that God loves us, cares for us, and is trustworthy.
So, What are you praying for? Where do you need God to meet you? How does this Psalm encourage you?
