Psalm 40

Today's Passage: Psalm 40

Verse 5 stood out to me. In the ESV, it says, “You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told.”

I love how David is infatuated with God right here. He wants to tell people about everything God has done, but he can’t because God had done so much in his life.

It really reminds me of John 21:25, “Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.”

In both cases, David and John could not comprehend the faithfulness, love, and acts of service that God had extended to their lives and the lives of others around them.

But what I love even more about David and John is that there was a deeper reasoning for why they told what God had done. They didn’t do it just so God could look cool or seem powerful. In both cases, they recounted what God had done so that others might believe (Psalm 40:10, John 20:30-31).

No matter who you are or where you come from, if you have a relationship with Jesus, you have an awesome story. A story of God’s redemption. And that story needs to be shared with others so that they might have a chance to know Jesus.
