Psalm 24
Today’s Passage: Psalm 24
“The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof,
the world and those who dwell therein”
This passage is the foundation for the whole chapter. Ask yourself—if this is true… that God is the Lord over EVERYTHING, then what does it mean for my life? If this is not true, then all our religion is pointless, but if it is true, then every word we read in the Bible takes on greater significance.
Who is the king of Glory? Once God’s rule is established in verse 1, the focus of the Psalm shifts to the “King of Glory,” and preparing ourselves for his kingdom. This Psalm is clearly messianic. David wants his readers to long for and prepare for the true king - Jesus.
With that in mind, read verses 3-6. How are we to prepare for his kingdom?
How do we clean our hands and purify our hearts?
Read verses 7-10. The old temple had curtains and the new (the one David’s son would build) had doors, but doors like we would have. So why are doors being lifted? That’s not how earthly doors work. David wants us to see that this is a Spiritual kingdom/temple, not an earthly one. With that in mind, how does David want us to prepare our hearts for the King of Glory?

When I read this post, I went to YouTube to listen to Chris Tomlin's song based on this psalm, " Give Us Clean Hands." I pray to the Lord to continue to have clean hands and pure heart each day. I pray to be a light for Christ in such a dark world.
