Luke 21:1-9

Today's Passage: Luke 21:1-9
I love this story of the “Widow’s Offering.” For me it is a gut check every single time I read it. I think what it shows us is that…
WE ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO GIVE FROM OUR COMFORT. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO GIVE TILL IT IS UNCOMFORTABLE.
In America we love comfort. We are told by the media, parents, college, and others that we deserve comfort and that living uncomfortable is borderline wrong. The problem is that God tells us something different.
Here, this story is no different. The final teaching statement that Jesus says here is, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For they contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on.”
I know this passage is about money but we are called to give so much more… we are called to give our:
And we are supposed to give till it is uncomfortable because Jesus is worth it and as 1 Corinthians 15:58 tells us it never returns void.
But we see something else here… DON’T JUDGE SOMEONE BY THE OUTSIDE BUT BY THE INSIDE.
They looked at this woman and seemed to have said, “That’s it?” But Jesus redirects their hearts… She gave ALL THAT SHE HAD. That was more of a sacrifice than anyone else.
The calling is clear. We are to lay EVERYTHING DOWN at His feet.
How did God speak to you today?

In America we love comfort. We are told by the media, parents, college, and others that we deserve comfort and that living uncomfortable is borderline wrong. The problem is that God tells us something different.
- He says to take up our cross…
- He says to lay down our life…
- He says to give Him everything…
Here, this story is no different. The final teaching statement that Jesus says here is, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For they contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on.”
I know this passage is about money but we are called to give so much more… we are called to give our:
- Time
- Talents
- Resources
- Effort
- Heart
- And so much more.
And we are supposed to give till it is uncomfortable because Jesus is worth it and as 1 Corinthians 15:58 tells us it never returns void.
But we see something else here… DON’T JUDGE SOMEONE BY THE OUTSIDE BUT BY THE INSIDE.

My study Bible says today that "You make a living by what you make: you make a life by what you give"
There are so many things going on right now that it can make your head spin. Everything points to the coming of the end of an age. With all the evil that is going on right now, the overturning of Roe v Wade is a huge sign of repentance for America that will cause God to respond. It will be fascinating to see to see what happens next. We should be in prayer right now for every state to outlaw the killing of babies no matter the persecution that is sure to follow. It's an exciting time to be a follower of Christ and to be given an opportunity to stand for Him.
