Luke 4:1-13

Luke 4:1-13
In our passage, we see the temptation of Jesus. Satan uses many tactics to try and get Jesus to fail. Satan offers Jesus authority if Jesus will worship him (v. 6-7). Satan uses Scripture to tempt Jesus (v. 9-11). And in each situation Jesus responded with Scripture (v. 4, 8, 12).
But what I want to focus on is the first part of verse 1, which says, “Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit”.
What does it mean to be full of the Holy Spirit?
I love how Tim Parsons put it in the Holy Spirit book he wrote, “Remember that being filled with the Spirit doesn’t mean getting more of Him. That would be impossible – you get all of the Spirit when you come into a relationship with God through Jesus. Being filled with the Spirit means giving Him more of you. Allowing the Spirit access and control to every part of your heart and life. In return, He fills you and gives you the power to live the Christian life.”
Have you given the Holy Spirit full access and control of your mind and heart? Are there things you are trying to withhold?
The Holy Spirit will do many things for you if you will surrender your control. He will empower you, teach you, pray for you, convict you, and so much more. Walking in the Holy Spirit is one of the most important things you can do.
I encourage you, whether you are currently in discipleship or not, to take time to meet with someone and walk through the Holy Spirit resource we have at CPC. It will help you get a fuller understanding of who the Holy Spirit is and what He does.

I really love the Holy Spirit study book and have walked through it with three people I was discipling. I think it really meant a lot to each of them as it did to me.
