Nehemiah 3

Nehemiah 3
Chapter 3 is an account of the people getting to work! The ESV Study Bible says, “The building work is described, and the workers are named, section by section. The point of this account is to show that the people as a whole responded to Nehemiah’s challenge and believed that God would give them success. The description of the work demonstrates the concerted effort of the people.”
The people of Israel responded to God’s direction through Nehemiah and are setting out to protect and restore the physical representation of God to the watching world.
What is God calling you to do in service to Him? This can be in terms of your vocation or how you serve your church, but also other things. Are you working for God’s glory? What does that even look like?
Meditate and think through how this verse applies to how you work and how you serve God on a daily basis:
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Cor. 10:31

Thanks Graham!
This passage reminds me how everyone has a vitally important role to play in the church. Nehemiah couldn't rebuild the entire wall by himself; he needed help. The same is true in the local church. Every member of the local church is put there on purpose. And without everyone serving in their unique capacities, with their unique talents and abilities, the church will not reach its full potential. It can be hard work at times, but so worth it!
