Genesis 48

Genesis 48

We live in some of the busiest, most exhausting, most difficult, and most frightening times. You may go to work to then come home and mow the grass or take the kids to practice. Or you go sit in class all day to then go to work and then go home and study. Or you watch your kids all day to then run them to every appointment and extracurricular activity imaginable.

Life can be crazy busy! So today, while reading this Jumpstart, I want you to pause. I want you to pause and reflect on all God has done in your life. I want you to count the blessings He has provided to you.

In Genesis 48, Jacob (or Israel) is about to die. He remembers the promise of God (v. 3-4). But the verse that really stands out is verse 11, “Then Jacob said to Joseph, ‘I never thought I would see your face again, but now God has let me see your children, too!’” Jacob was thankful in this moment. He was thankful for this opportunity.

I know your life might not be able to slow down, but you can in the midst of busy or difficult days, pause and be thankful to God. Tim used to always say, “If God stopped doing stuff for us right now, He has already done more than we deserve.”

What has God done in your life that you need to be thankful for today?

I am going to challenge you to do this exercise: Take a few minutes and try to write down everything you can thank God for.
