Genesis 10

Genesis 10
Another set of names?
Yep! So remember, God just wiped mankind off the face of the earth and preserved ONE family to start over with, Noah. God just hit the reset button, but what about the promise (or curse upon the serpent) he made in the garden? I thought the serpent would be crushed by one of Eden’s offspring, but currently, it looks like he’s winning…
We have the privilege of seeing this story from THIS side of the cross. Jesus is coming. He will bear the wrath of God to liberate us from the curse of sin. The serpent will put him in the grave, but Christ will crush his head on his way out of the tomb. Spoiler alert - God gets the victory.
So what do we do with all these names? I want to ask you a couple of questions that will help you find meaning in this genealogy.
What does the author want us to see?
How does it fulfill the promises God made to Noah in chapter 9?
Do you see any hints of grace in this chapter?

Yes, definitely. Noah's son Shem, all the way to Terah and his son Abram, his wife Sarai and his nephew Lot. Satan can never win this battle no matter how hard he tries! Our Savior was born, was crucified and has risen. We as believers can have peace and assurance as we await His soon return for His church. Come Lord Jesus.
