Proverbs 10

Proverbs 10
Chapter 10 launches into Solomon’s Proverbs. Solomon has a unique style and flow to his teachings. Each verse carries a lesson to be learned from the fool and the wise man, and each verse covers a different topic. This style is often what we think of when we think of the book of Proverbs, but how are we to make sense of its sporadic and bold claims?
Solomon’s Proverbs are godly principles for the believer to live by. Let me explain what I mean by that. God inspired Solomon, through the Holy Spirit, to write these chapters to speak applicable and practical wisdom into our everyday lives. In other words, they help us live life God’s way. Solomon’s Proverbs are NOT meant to be assured promises for our lives. The principals are inerrant and true, but the outcomes are not guaranteed.
Let’s look at a few examples from chapter 10:
“The godly are showered with blessings; evil people cover up their harmful intentions.” (V6)
Have you only ever experienced blessings? Of course not. In fact, Scripture tells us we will face suffering (Jn 15:20, 2 Tim 3:12). How, then, are we to understand this verse? If you live life God’s way, then God will shower you with blessings - both earthly and spiritual. That doesn’t mean you will only experience blessing. You will also experience suffering as a result of living in a fallen world, but godly living will produce spiritual fruit in your life. The principle of this verse will also be true, but the outcome may vary.

2. How you can apply the principle to your life

Psalm 10:12, Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.
I have seen this work I don't know how many times. A kind word will turn the atmosphere from contentious to calm in seconds, but returning anger and animosity will only escalate the situation.
Great message today! God has pulled me through some tough times. And He has blessed me in so many ways!
Proverbs 10:19 I have seen this in my life where an argument has taken place and one side continues on and the other side holds there lips and refrains from saying anything else in order to let the situation go and keep it from heating up even more.I have had it happen at work and I just let them continue on talking and I just kept my mouth shut.
