Proverbs 6

Proverbs 6
I hope you are enjoying Proverbs as we wrap up the first full week of 2022. The wisdom we glean from this book is timeless.
Verses 1-11
If we live as directed by God’s word, we will find it to be profitable (not to be confused with the prosperity gospel). We are stewards of our worldly possessions and must answer to the Lord for how we use them. If we waste them on ill-conceived ideas, it may entangle us in trouble and dishonor God. A man should be wise and not engage in business with anyone who can drag him into debt and bring shame on his family or the Lord. Diligence in business not only honors God but it allows a man to prosper so that he isn’t a burden to others or the church. Ants are more diligent than lazy men. Bad habits grow on people. Over time they can lead to waste and poverty.
Verses 12-19
If slothful men who do nothing are condemned, how much more so those who purposefully commit acts of evil. There are 7 things the Lord hates and that are detestable to Him. (haughty eyes, lying tongue, shedding innocent blood, heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, those who bear false witness, and men who stir up conflict in the community). If we are honest, all of us have committed some of these sins in our lives. We should strive to live righteous lives and stay away from things God hates.
Verses 20-35
Adultery is a hideous sin that destroys men, women, children, families, churches, and communities. Unfortunately, I have known many men who’ve fallen into this trap.
(v.27) Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned?
(v.28) Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched?
Adultery is fire and burns all who are touched by it. A prudent man places appropriate boundaries between himself and female coworkers, neighbors, friend’s wives, etc. Men must pray for God to keep them pure and faithful to their wives.

God spoke to my heart that debt is a trap that can be used to distract us from getting closer to God. Being diligent and not lazy setting up good habits in life. One habit I have formed through the years is to make my bed every morning and that is a good first task to accomplish for the day. Another good habit God has me do to work on being more diligent is hand wash my dishes and inspect them if I see smears or anything on them rewash them. Getting into a good routine has helped me become more diligent in my duties as well. Even though iam not married and no gf I pray Iam faithful to God and my future wife. Job 31:3.
