2 Corinthians 10

September Memory Verse: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3 (ESV)
Read: 2 Corinthians 10
The Corinthians have challenged Paul’s authority, which I find interesting since he was the one who brought them the gospel (v. 14). But what I love about Paul is that he does not shy away from them. Instead, he speaks more truth. And to go further, he speaks truth so that they may be built up, not torn down (v. 8).
I see this chapter much like a new convert discipleship relationship. If you ever lead someone to faith in Christ and then begin to disciple them, there might come a time when they question something you have said. They might challenge your authority on things. And the majority of the time, they are doing it to be mean. They are just trying to figure things out. But we need to be reminded to speak truth. And the point of speaking truth is not that you sound more sanctified, but that your disciple is being built up in their faith. And that is exactly what Paul does here.
I love how Paul ends this chapter. He says, “we hope that your faith will grow so that the boundaries of our work among you will be extended. Then we will be able to go and preach the Good News in other places far beyond you” (v. 15b-16a). This is the exact model of discipleship. It starts with sharing the gospel with someone, helping them grow in their faith, sending them out, and repeating the process for yourself.
Do you want to know how revivals start? It’s when Christians start living out verses 15-16.
Are you willing to live out verses 15-16? Are you willing to share the gospel with the people in your life? Will you begin to pray for them now?
If you are maybe not confident in evangelism or discipleship, please reach out to me or one of the staff members. We are not perfect at it, but we would love to help you and grow in these areas together.

Listen to verse 11... "Let such a person understand that what we say by letter when absent we do when present..."
POWERFUL.
Our life has power for the glory of God when our backstage matches our front stage - when what people see is really who we are. Such encouraging words from Paul to push to have that kind of life.
