2 Corinthians 5

August Memory Verse: So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)

Read: 2 Corinthians 5

As we reflect on the events over the past few days, it has been challenging. Each of us have felt moments of sorrow and grief. But I am thankful for the reminder of our hope in this passage.

Our hope only comes because of Jesus’ work. When we read verses 17 and 21, we are reminded of how Jesus has saved us and changed us.

21 “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (ESV)

17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (ESV)

And because of what Jesus has done, we have hope. We have hope that when our earthly bodies are no more, we will receive a heavenly body from the Lord (v. 1-5).

And because we have hope, we should live out verse 9: So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.

I know it has been difficult for many of us with the passing of our pastor and dear friend, Tim. But when I think about someone living out verse 9, it makes me think of him. His hope was in Jesus, and now He is home with the Lord.

I am thankful that we have a God who loves us and invites us to spend eternity with Him!

What a crazy reminder in to start the chapter in verse 1

"For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands"

After the events of yesterday, it is no mere coincidence that we start off this chapter like this today. What a promise that we have a heavenly house reserved for us and a glorified body waiting on us, and a reminder that Tim is now waiting on all who that have believed in Jesus to come join him in glory!

I agree with Jordan. God's timing of the first verse is amazing! Wonderful message, Brice Continuing to pray for the Parsons Family and for CPC.

Such a perfect passage for today. But I don't think that is any coincidence. God had it planned for the CPC family. Yes, we are so sad, but our God is so Good!!!!
