2 Corinthians 1

August Memory Verse: So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)
This is a previously scheduled post that was written several weeks ago.
We encourage you to continue to pray for Tim and his family.

Thank you for being a faithful Jumpstart reader and poster! Your posts are SUCH an encouragement to other readers and to the staff. Sometimes it feels like we’re writing into the dark and those help give us direction. If you’re NEW to Jumpstart – welcome to a journey that will change your life. God’s Word is what changes us!!
This is the second letter to the church at Corinth. The first one called the people there into account for some very wrong actions. Unfortunately, they continued in those sins – so Paul is writing again – this time a little more strongly. Corinth, as you may know, was located in Greece.

This was a church founded by Paul in about 50 AD. It’s now a troubled church that Paul is concerned about. His love is expressed in his words.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 is a passage that encourages me so much! Verse 3 reminds me that God loves me and shows me mercy (not giving me what I truly deserve for my sin). He is the source of my comfort whenever I struggle or have a need. Verse 4 tells me why - so I can turn around and encourage others through the comfort I receive from Him. How have you done that recently? Who has God placed in your life that needs comfort?
One of the best ways to do this is through praying for others (v.11). Who has been on your heart? Will you stop and pray for them right now – then send them a text or email and encourage them by telling them that you prayed for them.
Will you take a moment today and post a comment – share a story of how it went when you reached out to someone in need or how it felt when someone else did this for you.

Still praying for you, brother! Thanks for being a bold and godly influence in my life. And thanks for being a friend during times of need.
Now get off that ventilator and get back into the game!
Yes I will. Pat and I are praying for you, my brother, as are so many others awaiting your healing! When our faith is challenged, it never wanes but grows stronger each day. We live by faith and not by sight.
One of the main people on my list right now is YOU, Pastor Tim! Of course I ask for your physical healing. I want you to get better and be back with us on that stage preaching. But I don't know if that's what God has in store for you. As difficult as it is to say, you will be healed, whether God restores your physical body or takes you home. You have made such an impact in this community and all over the world that is hard to put into words.
We just have to fight to believe the truth. God has a purpose for this and for whatever the outcome may be, even if we don't see it right now.
From Torrey's, How To Pray: "Who does not feel that he needs more grace? Then ask for it. Be constant, persistent, and untiring in your asking. God delights to have us often and persistently ask, for it shows our faith in Him, and He is greatly pleased with faith. Because we are not ashamed to ask, He will rise and give us as much as we need. I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity, he will rise and give him as many as he needs (Luke 11:8). Most of us know only little streams of mercy and grace, when we could know rivers of God's mercy and grace overflowing their banks!"
4 He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
Before I read Pastor Tim's commentary, this is the verse that resonated with me as well. Tina and I have been at Center Point about 12 years and I can't tell you how many times Tim has reached out to let us know he has been praying for us. I bet many of us could say the same thing.
I have learned from Pastor Tim the importance of encouraging others and letting them know we are actively praying for them. Thank you Tim for boldly preaching the gospel and leading by example. We love you and your family.
Tim, I pray right now that you are feeling the comfort of God wash all over you and that He is breathing His breath of life into your lungs. Your flock loves and misses you so much!
