1 Corinthians 15

August Memory Verse: So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)
Read: 1 Corinthians 15
Faith is pointless if there is no resurrection.
Paul is trying to help the Corinthians understand this. The city of Corinth was a place where many different religions and cultures mingled. It was a place where many “gods” were worshiped. And during this time, most religions believed there was no life after death or that everyone went to the underworld. The idea of resurrecting was absurd, and I think this is why many of the Corinth Christians were struggling with this idea.
But Paul reminds them of several things:
The section that stuck out to me the most was in verses 42-49. Paul is contrasting our earthly bodies to the heavenly bodies that we will receive. I love verse 45, because it accurately describes what Jesus had done for us: “’The first man Adam became a living being’, the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.” Jesus has given us a new life. One that is marked by Him. And this perishable body we have now will one day fade, but we will receive an imperishable one thanks to Jesus.
What a privilege to be able to know our destiny. We don’t have to just hope or second guess. We get to know where we will be for eternity!

But Paul reminds them of several things:
- The Gospel (v. 3-4)
- The Resurrection of Jesus (v. 5-8)
- There is no faith if Jesus did not resurrect (v. 12-19)
- Jesus did resurrect and defeated death (v. 20-28)
- What our resurrected bodies will be like (v. 35-49)
- Those who have faith in Jesus will resurrect (v. 50-54a)
- Death has no power (v. 54b-56)

Well said Brice! One of my favorite chapters that explains our path to eternal life and the reason for not fearing d
Death. Also verses 3-5 give us the Gospel in a nut shell, plain and simple.
Bad friends are a corrupting influence. Hope in the resurrection is sanctifying. (v.33)
