I'm excited about reading the 16 chapters of Romans together as a church over the next two and a half weeks. Thanks for getting us off to a strong start this morning Nick. The one word that stands out to me from this chapter is "depravity" from verse 29. The culture in which Paul finds himself in Rome is wicked in every way. v.22) Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools. Sexual immorality & decadence was everywhere. Does this sound familiar? We are dealing with the same issues in 2021 America. How are we to respond to our culture? Just as Paul said in verse 16. "I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes." Scripture tells us that we are to be in the world but not of the world. Engaging the culture with biblical truth is not easy and many will mock us. I'm glad to be at CPC where discipleship is the norm and we can encourage each other to be bold in our faith. Have a blessed week Jumpstart readers!

Great reminder that while the book of Romans does address various issues of theology/doctrine, it all starts with the Gospel! Many of my friends & family seem confused, thinking the way to Heaven has something to do with being a good person or keeping a clean mouth or something like that. How to help them understand? That's the question....

Thanks, Nick, for this powerful start to a powerful book!

"The righteous will live by faith." This little statement packs such a clear and powerful message of how we are to demonstrate the love and essence of God and the beauty of the Gospel. Especially in this time of confusion, fear and flesh-driven behavior, to rest in Him is the most encouragement we can give to fellow believers and the loudest witness we can share with those in darkness.

Romans is such an important book in the life of every believer. It lays out the gospel so clearly and tackles many deep theological topics. I'm looking forward to diving in head first on this one, as there is much to learn about the truths of the gospel in the lives of believers. Verse 16 is such an important verse for us to have memorized, as it can empower us to share with those around us, knowing that we shouldn't be ashamed of the gospel because of the power it holds. Thankful for this book, and for a church that wants to study God's word together!

God makes Himself know to all. He is waiting with open arms. But those who continue to live in sin and passive indifference, He leaves to their own. He won't force Himself onto anyone
