Daniel 9

Today's Passage: Daniel 9
When Daniel reads the word of the LORD expressed through the prophet Jeremiah, he is humbled by the reality that their time in captivity was not coming to an end quite yet.
Daniel approaches the Lord humbly to confess his own sin and to plead on behalf of the people.
Daniel demonstrates a true, faithfully repentant heart that understands both the righteousness of God and the depth of his sin. Daniel adores God for His faithfulness and steadfast love, and he openly recognizes that the captivity Israel is facing is a direct consequence of their rebellion against God.
The Lord responded to Daniel’s prayer because of His great love for Daniel. The Lord sent the angel Gabriel to deliver a vision.
The vision pointed to a time where transgression would be finished, sin would be ended, iniquity would be atoned for, everlasting righteousness would come, the messages of God’s visions and prophets would be sealed, and a most holy place would be anointed.
This vision would be fulfilled in Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, and it will be fulfilled once and for all when Jesus returns to end the sin and desolation forever.
In verse 4, Daniel described God as great, awesome, steadfast, and as the one who keeps His covenants. Daniel understood that what God said would come to pass.
My prayer as I write this jumpstart is that you too would understand God’s unchanging nature, and that this vision would be an encouragement to you as it was to Daniel.
We can see that God kept His promise to Daniel by sending Jesus. We can trust that, though our world continues to be filled with deceit and desolation, God will one day fulfill His promise that everlasting righteousness will come.
