Daniel 5

Today’s Passage: Daniel 5
Daniel is a powerful book that shows that God is working even in “enemy territory” (Babylon). He is always at work around us even when all hope seems lost. As we pick up the story today there is a new king - King Belshazzar. He follows King Nebuchadnezzar but he doesn’t learn from any of his mistakes. He is still full of pride. Here is what we learn about God:
1) GOD WILL NOT BE DISHONORED FOREVER.
He dishonors God. He walks in pride instead of humility. And God shows He will not be dishonored forever. God is slow to anger. He is full of grace and mercy but there is a point where He says “enough is enough”.
2) GOD CAN GET HIS POINT ACROSS.
The second thing we see is that God is able to get his point across. As He is dishonoring God a hand appears and writes a message on a wall. God can get his point across by any means He chooses.
3) GOD USES GODLY LEADERS.
He tries to get people to interpret the message but no one is able to. But someone brings up Daniel. His reputation has preceded him as a man of God and wisdom - people are watching. He uses Daniel to interpret the writing and the message is grim - “your kingdom is being divided and given to the Medes & Persians.” (v.28)
4) GOD’S WORDS ALWAYS COME TRUE.
That very night… The words God spoke came true. God’s Words always come true.
7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap / Galatians 6:7
What does it look like to apply this to your life? How do you dishonor God? How is He trying to get a point across in your life? Who is He using? What is He saying?
Align your life in obedience!
