2 Timothy 2:1-14

Today's Passage: 2 Timothy 2:1-14
In this passage, Paul gives us two things to do and the reason why we should do them.
In verse 2, Paul tells Timothy to take what he has learned from Paul, teach it to other men, who can then go teach it to others. What is so amazing is that this verse actually happened. The reason why we know about the Gospel now is because people have passed it on from generation to generation. Who are you teaching the Gospel too? How are you planning to launch them out to teach others?
Paul gives 3 examples of endurance: the soldier, the athlete, and the farmer. All of these professions take hard-work, dedication, and commitment. There are not instant results in these professions. Living for Jesus isn’t a one-time decision. It is an everyday decision. And there will be pushback and trails. But Paul reminds us of why we should endure.
The reason for passing on the Gospel and finding strength endure is found in verses 11-13. It’s all about and because of Jesus. He gives life. He gives hope. He remains faithful. Jesus is always the hero.
In this passage, Paul says he is in chains like a criminal. I was able to visit the prison he was held in during these moments. It is in Rome, Italy right outside of the Colosseum. Paul understood endurance and the need for the Gospel to be passed on. I will put a picture of his imprisonment and it’s amazing how he stayed committed to Jesus. May we find endurance, hope, and strength in Christ, as Paul did.
